COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Here are descriptions of the courses typically offered at the Professional Development Academy.
Corporate Learning Course (CLC) - This course is required for completion of Level III, Grover Loening Award, in the Professional Development Program. The Corporate Learning Course discusses the relationship the CAP squadron has with the next major echelon of command -- the wing. Specifically, CLC discusses how wing-level operations help to accomplish CAP's three missions of aerospace education, emergency services, and cadet programs. It describes the working relationships wing staff officers have with each other, and their squadron level counterparts.
Training Leaders of Cadets (TLC) - The Training Leaders of Cadets program prepares senior members to lead cadets at the squadron level. TLC is the premiere venue for Cadet Programs Officers to learn how to become better mentors of cadets and more effective managers of cadet squadrons. The course is a component of the Cadet Programs Officer Specialty Track in the Senior Member Professional Development Program. To foster a learning environment that encourages open discussion among seniors, cadets are prohibited from participating in TLC.
Inspector General - Basic (IGB) - If you are interested in the inner workings of the Inspector General's office, thisis the place to start. Participants will be introduced to the roles of those serving as inspectors general - in investigations and inspections. Contact the MDWG IG for more information at trekpb@aol.com .
MDWG Checkpilot Meeting - Checkpilot meetings are a requirement of CAPR 60-1. Therefore all checkpilots should plan to attend this annual meeting. The main purpose is ensure uniformity during checkrides, both Form 5 and Form 91's.A r evised 60-1 was released in January and Mission Flying is taking new directions since the SARSATS have been de-commisioned. We will be discussing the effect of both. The rest of the time will be set aside for an open forum for general discussion and exchange of ideas.
