Projected inclement weather the reason

1/29/2010––Due to projected inclement weather on January 30, the Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing National Cadet Special Activities Review Board is postponed until next Saturday, February 6.  The boards will be held in the Cadet Programs Building at Maryland Wing Headquarters in Glen Burnie, Md.

New target group time slots for February 6 are:

  • 1000-1200: Group I
  • 1300-1500: Group III
  • 1500-1700: Group II

Cadets who retracted their applications or were accounted for by long-term reasons (such as being out of country) are still "accounted for" for next week. Otherwise, cadets with on-time NCSA applications who will be unable to attend should email the Cadet Programs staff at cp@mdcap.org.

Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, is a nonprofit organization with 58,000 members nationwide. CAP, in its Air Force auxiliary role, performs 90 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and was credited by the AFRCC with saving 72 lives in fiscal year 2009. Its volunteers also perform homeland security, disaster relief and counter-drug missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. The members play a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to more than 23,000 young people currently participating in CAP cadet programs. CAP has been performing missions for America for 68 years.

There are approximately 1,400 members of CAP in Maryland. Last fiscal year wing members flew 42 search and rescue missions and were credited with 31 finds. For more information, visit www.mdcap.org.
